For this assignment, you must create a sketch of a room using 1-point perspective by following the steps dictated in the youtube video down below. You may choose to connect your personal headphones into the computer to hear the instructions. If you don't have headphones, it's ok, just follow along without sound, step-by-step pausing the video as needed. You must use PENCIL ONLY as well as a ruler to complete this drawing. You have a choice of drawing on either white computer paper or grid paper. If it's easier, you may use a clipboard to put your paper on while following along with the video. The clipboards are located in my tall cabinet near the large printer. This assignment is not counting as a project grade but will be marked as either pass/fail as a participation grade. It is essential that you complete this assignment to prepare you for the large scale 1-point perspective drawing that we will be doing in the terminal of the school next week. What is 1-point perspective? It is an image that contains one vanishing point on a horizon line. It's a system for representing 3-dimensional objects and space on a 2-dimensional surface by means of intersecting lines that are drawn vertically and horizontally and that radiate from one point. This type of perspective is typically used for images of roads, railway tracks, hallways, or interior spaces. What you need to hand in....
Remember to think about the needs of Cheryl and her family. A floor plan is a visual of a room or building scaled and viewed from above. The floor plan may depict an entire building, one floor of a building, or a single room. It may also include measurements, furniture, appliances, or anything else necessary to the purpose of the plan. Floor plans are used to help design furniture layout, wiring systems, and much more. For the next assignment you will be creating a basic floor plan of the classroom. You will be drawing the design on graph paper by taking exact measurements of the room and scaling those measurements down.
If you have extra time, try experimenting with this website: https://www.gliffy.com/ - Click on "Start Drawing" - Click on "More Shapes" at the bottom left hand corner - Click "Floor Plan" Now you can add furniture and other professional interior design symbols. Answer the following questions using complete sentences and attach your answers to the back of your poster:
1.) How does your use of color reflect your client's personality or specific needs? 2.) What about your design makes it unique or sets it apart from other possible designs? 3.) How did you meet the needs of your client through your design? 4.) If you could choose 3 words to describe your personal interior design style, what words would you choose and why?
Demonstrate your knowledge and skill!
For this assignment, you will be putting together a lot of the skills that you’ve learned over the course of the semester thus far. First, you must choose a client that you would like to design for from the 6 clients on the Client Color Scheme Worksheet. For the client of your choice, you will create a design board that must include the following:
It might be a good idea to either create a document or pinterest board to save all of the furniture and decor you wish to include in the room that you’re designing. 3. Next, you will create a floorplan which should include furniture, decor, and make use of your color scheme. Please save or screenshot your floor plan because it will be required that you print it out later. 4. A small 1-point perspective drawing is required. It should be done on 9x12” white paper and colored in using the color scheme of your choice. 5. Lastly, the color scheme of your choosing must be showcased on your design board by attaching paint and/or fabric swatches. The best way to do this is to complete each part of the assignment one at a time by following the order listed above. Hold onto each part of the assignment in your folder until you are ready to assemble your design board once all sections have been completed. Have fun and good luck! For this assignment, you will be experimenting with SketchUp and viewing tutorials to learn more about this program. You must take note of the skills you learn today because you will be sharing your findings with your peers on Wednesday. First, open up a new tab in your browser and create a GoogleDocs file or a GoogleSlides file. Title the new file "(YourName)SketchUpSkills" and share the file with: [email protected] To access SketchUp, go to your GoogleDrive and click on the Apps icon on the top right. Then click "More" at the bottom of the pop-up menu. Find the SketchUp icon that looks like the image in the top right hand corner of this post. I will be grading this assignment, so the only way I can do that is if you share your file with me. Experiment with SketchUp and view the tutorials listed below to make a list of at least 3 new skills that you learned. In your GoogleDocs file, I want you to be specific and really describe each skill you learned because it will help you present the skills to the class next week. I encourage you to look through these video tutorials and websites to do this assignment. However, feel free to look elsewhere! Also, feel free to experiment with the tools on your own and teach yourself. http://www.sketchup.com/learn https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCFBi30B8oBGrl48RdxgIiRA https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLMK2xMz5H5ZvY28MrKdFPmNJbODwLgSqj https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BK0NOO7xybE&list=PL6q9PYF48vmqTYKiDgLjIplZ3-vMk5raQ http://designerhacks.com/sketchup-tutorials/ http://sketchupforwoodworkers.com/ http://www.harwoodpodcast.com/sketchup If you find other resources, please let me know!
